The nicolas pic reminds me that Hungary and some other european nations celebrate Santa claus on december sixth, and christmass as separate in 24th-25-and sometimes 26.
After Christmas ends, the tree isnt dissolved until a specific day in January.
December 31th is Sylverser's day here, the celebration of the end of a year(fireworks and some kind of explosives are used to celebrate too), and 1st is the celebration of the first. Jan 1st is also called "Mini-christmas" in village-language.
After this, February's first days are used as good dates to re-celebrate sylvester, I was in a party held by some kind of big-family support company when I was young. I can renember those days even now.
I once told you about Farsang wich is pancake day's Hungarian counterpart, wich has some kind of tradition around it. Busó-s always scare people and give them some wine, to celebrate the day their predecessors scared turks away from one of hungarian villages. From this day to easter, some people follow the tradition to avoid eating meat.
I think you know Valentine's Day wich is also called Bálint day here.
